FAQ

What is a zine?A zine is a small-circulation booklet, collecting artworks, writings or any creative material. In fandom culture, they’re often made by multiple artists and can come with fan-made merchandise sold in bundles of various sizes. (The origins of zines can be traced back to the 1700s, with early manifestations found in women's scrapbooks and political pamphlets.
The term "fanzine," on the other hand, appears to have emerged from science-fiction enthusiasts in the 1960s.)
Traditionally, these DIY and self-published booklets have functioned as means of self-expression and bringing counterculture communities together.
What is this zine about? This zine is an unofficial and fanmade project celebrating transgender people's lives, joys and wrath through the beloved characters of the manga One Piece by Eiichirō Oda.
We want to explore both canon and headcanons themes and thus show the loves of the fans for these narratives and representations.
As Franky said: “It’s never a crime to exist.”
It will include fanarts, fanfictions and depending of the interest check, might include physical merch.
Will the zine be digital or physical?
For-profit or charity?
This zine will be for-charity and the chosen organization will be focused on helping trans individuals - it will be announced at a later date. The zine will be released both on digital and physical! How will contributors be compensated? All contributors will be guaranteed a free digital copy with any potential digital goods that are made. Should we raise enough money, all contributors will be granted a physical bundle or will have the option to buy one at the production cost. Any additional funds raised, after expenses, will be directed to a to-be-determined charity. How old do contributors need to be?Contributors must be 18+ by the end of the application period. What characters are accepted?
Are ships allowed?
The characters already confirmed as trans/genderqueer will be prioritized but due to the nature of the zine, headcanons are welcome and encouraged. We’re not against implied shipping but the character’s gender identity must be the main focus.Do I have to be trans to apply to this zine? No, the primary concern we have regarding a team in non-mixity is that we cannot request individuals to disclose such information, as some may prefer to keep it private. We don’t want to force anyone to come out if they’re not comfortable with it. For this reason, transgender people and cis allies are both welcome! Will there be nsfw content? We cannot ignore how the topic of gender transition is heavily linked to anatomy and queer attraction. As we wish to celebrate the diversity of transgender individuals bodies, we will allow artistic representations of nudity, but won't feature explicit sexual scenes. Is it spoiler-free?
No, to have as many characters as possible, this zine will accept late chapters appearances and therefore will allow spoilers.
Are AUs allowed? If it helps explore the character’s gender identity, yes, it can be accepted.
